Liz and Steve...A Love Story
AT FIRST SIGHT
How did you meet?
We met on Match.com in March 2009. After chatting online for a while and a few phone calls, we decided to meet. We have talked or seen each other everyday since then.
Liz, what was your first date with Steve like?
We went to a restaurant called Charley Horse. It was the first time we had actually seen each other, and I was curious to see if Steve looked like his picture online! One of the first things I noticed about Steve was his yellow Corvette. I also thought he was very cute. We ate dinner and talked--I felt like I talked too much as Steve was a little quiet.
Steve, can you describe your first impressions of Liz?
I thought Liz was very cute, quiet, innocent, and ate like a bird. It turns out I was wrong about three out of the four.
THE ENGAGEMENT
Steve planned an elaborate basketball team hoax in order to give Liz the surprise of her life...please elaborate.
I knew finding time to shop for Liz's engagement ring would be hard, especially since we enjoy spending so much time together. Therefore, I told her that I would be playing basketball on Saturday afternoons for a couple of months. See below for more details.
Steve, did you feel like a total dirt bag lying to Liz every weekend, saying you were playing basketball on a super special league, while in fact you were ring shopping with your dad and brother?
I did start feeling bad about lying to her every other weekend. One weekend I felt especially bad because we were having our families over for dinner and we just got the house painted. I thought she was going to kill me when I said I was going to play basketball. It was important that I went to the jeweler that weekend. A couple weeks later I actually did go play basketball, so I wasn't a total liar.
Liz, do you think Steve is a total dirt bag for going ring shopping behind your back and then having the nerve to surprise you in the luxury sleeper car on the Amtrak from Chicago to Seattle? Can you describe your feelings at the time of the proposal?
I was upset when Steve left the day our families were coming over; I couldn't believe I had to get ready for them to come over all by myself. Once I found out what he was doing, I was not upset at all! And no, I don't think he is a total dirtbag. I was totally surprised by the proposal. Steve did a good job of tricking me, I had no idea that he would propose to me during our vacation. I started crying almost immediately (I'm sure everyone is shocked to read that!). I was very, very happy!
Steve, what was Mr. Boso's reaction when you told him you were going to propose to Liz?
He told me he would be honored to give me his daughter's hand in marriage and that he was extremely happy for us.
EVER AFTER
This is a big decision. How nervous are you both about getting married?
I'm not as nervous as everyone seems to think I should be about this whole marriage thing. I feel that I'm ready for this commitment and know Liz is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. Cheesy? Maybe, but very true.
I am not nervous about marrying Steve, either. Steve makes me really happy and I know that he is the one for me. I am a little bit nervous about everything coming together for the wedding. However, what I am MOST nervous about is that I will be the victim of some type of freak accident a few days before the wedding and that it will leave me tragically disfigured or unable to walk down the aisle.
Will you ever ride Amtrak across country again?
Yes! It was a lot of fun, we saw some beautiful scenery, and I can't wait to see what jewelry I'll get on our next trip!
